There are a few ways to get an SSL certificate. All SSL certificates require a dedicated IP which we offer at an additional $2/month.
The easiest way is to pay us to purchase and install an SSL license. This costs $100/year and we'll waive the price of the dedicated IP if you choose to go this route.
The more difficult way is to purchase your own SSL certificate from a Certifying Authority such as VeriSign, Thawte, or any other Certifying Authority and have us install it for you. There is a $30 installation fee and the $2/month dedicated IP charge will apply. The process of obtaining your own SSL certificate is lengthy and tends to be somewhat difficult so we recommend you purchase one from us.
Once you have an SSL Certificate installed any page that you require be secure you access with https:// instead of http://. For example http://www.yourdomain.com/creditcard.html is not secure but https://www.yourdomain.com/creditcard.html is.
Generally the only reason to obtain an SSL Certificate is if you are going to be collecting confidential user information such as credit card information.
